The junior high sports banquet scheduled for May 7th has been moved to May 14th at 11:30 a.m. in the high school gym. This is for 7th-9th grade athletes who participated in basketball, cross country, baseball, and softball. Parents are welcome to attend. I apologize for any inconvenience.
Educational Talent Search (ETS) advisor Mrs. Shay and Ms. Stone took a group of 9th and 10th graders to tour UCA in Conway. They all left feeling like that was a school they would maybe want to attend someday!

USDA will once again issue summer EBT (electronic benefits transfer) cards at the rate of $40 per child per month for 3 months ($120 per child total). In order for households to receive this benefit, your child/ren must be enrolled in Viola Public Schools as of May 31, 2024, and be on free or reduced meal status. The cards will be sent to the address on file with Viola Public Schools.
I just want to remind everyone that VES will be ATLAS testing for grades 3-6 Wednesday-Friday. I hope all the students get a good night's rest and that VES is able to do great! Families thanks for all your help!

Baxter Health recently held a "Project Semicolon" art competition. Abby placed second and Gracie placed 3rd!
Their drawings will be on display in the showcase outside the Baxter Health cafeteria.

The annual Gifted and Talented Program’s Advisory Council meeting will be on Thursday, May 9th at 4:00 in Ms. Stone’s classroom. The Advisory council is available to parents of GT students and community members to answer questions about the status of the program. They also have the opportunity to bring concerns to the GT Advisory Council meetings. Parents and community members will be given the opportunity to ask questions and provide input. Due to conflicts with the FBLA state conference, our softball game with Salem on Monday, April 29th has been cancelled. Our next game is Thursday, May 2nd vs Hillcrest in the Regional Tournament at Marked Tree. Game time is at 12:30 pm.
High school sports physicals will be April 30th in the high school gym starting at 9 am. Athletes will be bringing home forms that must be signed by parents. All students grades 6-11 must have a completed physical to compete in athletics next year.
Some of the Elementary GT students created Selfie Sculptures. They had to listen to a statement being read. If the statement was true about them, they had to follow directions for the color of paper and what to make with the strip (an arch, folded to make crinkles, fringed....etc.). I thought they turned out really cool and showed how well rounded these students are!
Last week, a few 10th-12th graders hopped on a bus to Conway for the Construction Career Fair and Industry Showcase. There were lots of hands on activities, lots of industry leaders from Arkansas, lots of kids, and lots of Chick-Fil-A 😅

Baseball and Softball Update:
Today's baseball game against Thayer has been cancelled.
Tomorrow the boys will compete in the semifinals of the District Tournament at 3:30, and if they win the championship will begin at 6:00.
The Softball District Tournament will start today with our girls playing at 5:00.
If the girls win they will advance to the semifinals tomorrow at 3:00, with the championship game following.
Great job to the Viola track team for their success at districts yesterday. Missy Wilson placed 1st in the 1600m run and the 3200m run. Jaden Fry, Taylor Richardson, Missy Wilson and Ayrianna Allen placed 2nd in the 100m relay. And Andrew Ponson placed 1st in the 100m dash
Correction to the previous softball post. Tomorrow's game at West Side is at 5 pm, not 4. All other information in the post is correct. Softball tomorrow at West Side at 5 pm.
The Viola Softball team will play the winner of Rural Special and Norfork Tuesday, at West Side, at 4 pm.
If we win we will play Shirley at West Side, Wednesday at 3 pm.
The finals are Wednesday at 5 pm, if we beat Shirley.
